Zendaya Coleman is the latest star to break out of the Disney caste to tackle more challenging roles in Hollywood. The actress and multi platinum selling singer has currently been named the face of Madonna’s Material Girl line and was chosen to portray late singer Aaliyah in her biopic but has since dropped out of the project. Apparently Aaliyah fans are very protective of her image and who they want to play her but that shouldn’t take away from Zendaya’s talent. Here’s to hoping Zendaya maintains a positive image an branches out in a way that highlights her talents as opposed to another Disney star whose twerking skills or lack thereof overshadows her music! It was nice to hear the 17 year old wants to stay with Disney for now to appeal with her young fan base in her interview with the publication. Check out the recent spread by Flaunt Magazine below where she is rocking looks by J Brand, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu and Fausto Puglisi….

It is pretty much winter here in Paris where I currently reside. While we are are trying to keep warm, on the other side of the pond, it was sizzling hot on the 2014 Grammys Awards red carpet last night in Los Angeles. Who had your favorite looks of the evening and who felt flat?
Tamar Braxton was the lady in red in a Michael Costello creation
Beyonce went for lace and sheer with a Michael Costello creation.
Ashanti looked quite sizzling in a layered shoulder length hair style and cute little number.
Ciara the mommy to be showed everyone how to shut it down in a custom gold embellished Emilio Pucci dress.
Amber Rose accompanied by her husband Wiz Khalifa showed us that she still got it by wearing a Naheem Khan gown. Hot!
Rita Ora was also on the red carpet. I am not too crazy about her outfit but her face and hair looked nice.
Miguel came in with girlfriend Nazanin which I think is gorgeous! I love these two together.
I love Chrisette Michele but I am on the fence with her sartorial choice here. I hate this print ensemble on her. Nonetheless her hair is hot and her face is beat.
Madonna will always be Madonna. Her son David is a big boy now.
Alicia Keys was the lady in blue.
and last but not least, Robin Thicke and wife Paula Patton made their way as well onto the red carpet. Once again Pauta is a miss for me. That zebra number is plain ugly.
There you have it folks. Who had the best look of the night and who failed miserably to bring to
Rihanna is gearing up for a fall/winter 2013 collection for River Island. After the success of her spring summer 2013 collection for the British retailer, it is not surprising to anyone that she is back with a second collection that is a once again a reflection of the clothes that she loves to wear and that represents what her personal style is all about. If fans like this collection just as much as the first one, she may have a hit under her belt.
At any rate, what do you guys think of this collection, and will you be getting any of these pieces for fall?
Hi guys, it is Roberte today for our another Friday Favorite segment where Leah and I talk about the things we like such as artists, music, dinning, plays etc…

Tickets for the BAM Truth Serumevent are on sale now and can be purchased online by visiting www.BAM.org or at the BAM box office located at 30 Lafayette Avenue in Brooklyn. Let the party begin!
Hi guys, it is Friday, the week-end is finally upon us and I plan on making the best of it after a not so great week. Today’s Friday Favorite is about one of the biggest female groups of all time, “TLC”. As many of you may recall, TLC was really at the height of their career in the 1990 and early 2000’s until, one of their group members Lisa Lopes aka Left Eye died in a tragic car accident in South America.
Like most fans, I was really surprised to hear about the making of the movie by surviving group members Chilli and T-Boz and was not really excited about it. But now after seeing the trailer, I have to say that I cannot wait to see the movie that will debut on October 21 on VH1. If you are a fan of TLC, let me know below if you plan on watching the movie. In other TLC news, the group plans on releasing a new album on October 15. Cannot wait to hear new music from my girls.
I saw this video about 2 months ago and there was something about it that I was really feeling! I think Janelle tends to be a little out there at times but I appreciate that she is making an actual attempt at artistry and originality. Add Erykah Badu to the mix and the dope level increases x10! What I took away from the message was not new but a good reminder: people will always have something to say about you, good or bad but at the end of the day, we do not dull our abilities and intelligence to make others feel comfortable. Nor do we put others down to make ourselves feel better. I know that this mindset helps build real confidence and shrinks insecurities . Enjoy the video below and have a great weekend!
Last Tuesday, Leah and I attended singer/songwriter Esnavi and Dazzle Dry nail polish launch event at swanky lounge EVR in Manhattan.
As you may recall, last month, I wrote a post about the line that is eco-friendly with no harsh chemicals like formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, camphor and nitrocellulose. A win win for many people who suffer from terrible allergies, and for those looking for other alternatives to what ‘s currently available on the market right now.
The ESNAVI LIVE COLLECTION by DAZZLE DRY features three nail lacquers ( see photos) named after her songs Morning Dew, Oh My! and Planet E, off her album EXIT E. Shop the Esnavi’/Dazzle dry line here.
See more photos of the event and watch the video below courtesy of Esnavi.
A special “Thank You” for Esnavi and her manager for this beautiful event. I love you guys.
Roberte here for another post on all my favorite things in life. It is my personal corner where I share some of the things that I love in the field of fashion, music, food, travel, shopping and more…
For today, the spotlight is on American Grammy Award-winning R&B and soul singer-songwriter Chrisette Michele. What I love about Michele is her real, raw and authentic talent. Her voice is soulful but also very jazzy. Her music is so positive and always moves me. For that reason, she is one of my favorite female singers in the world. Take a listen below by watching the video for her latest single A Couple Of Forevers. I love me some Chrisette and this song is on heavy rotation on my I-Pod.
If you live in or are planning to visit New York City on June 11, she will be performing at the Luxury Infinity Yacht at 8pm. Her latest album entitled “Better. ” will also be available on that day. For more info visit her webpage here.
Leah and I are big fans of soul/RnB singer/songwriter Esnavi here at Sereine Magazine. When we learned that she partnered with Dazzle Dry (a company that created a quick-dry nail polish system with a vegan formula free of harsh chemicals like formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, camphor and nitrocellulose), we could not have been more thrilled for her.
The ESNAVI LIVE COLLECTION by DAZZLE DRY will feature three nail lacquers named after her songs Morning Dew, Oh My! and Planet E, off her album EXIT E.
The collection will be available beginning June 11, 2013 at www.dazzledry.com for $9 suggested retail for each nail lacquer. For more info about Esnavi, go to www.esnavi.com.
I was in the throes of natural hair growth madness about 4 years ago, endlessly watching Youtube videos of kinky curly haired girls for advice and inspiration to manage my own hair. Fortunately, I stumbled upon a video for the artist featured above. It showed a young woman sitting on a horse in a dark, fog-filled forest flanked by two identical back up singers also on horses… I was immediately intrigued. The song was pretty much packed with alternative punk, electronic, pop dubbed 80′s vibed awesomeness. It was so different, forward thinking and just plain cool I had to know more. Turns out, it was the video for her 2008 single “L.E.S (Lower East Side) Artists” and her other hit “Lights Out” was the much talked about background music for a Bud Light Lime commercial campaign.
Santi White is a PA native whose musical influences include jazz, punk and reggae and it totally comes through in her sound. I also love that Santi does not just put out generic, cookie cutter music for the masses in an effort to line her pockets. Her music has message and she is a cerebral, deep thinking master producer and has written for artists including Jay Z, Beastie Boys , MIA, Res (whose record “How I Do” was criminally overlooked) and Bjork. Her latest critically acclaimed album, “Master of My Make Believe” dropped last April and I was so happy as well as many of her fans who were (impatiently) waiting for this release! Here’s to hoping she doesn’t pull a Sade and bust out a new album every ten years! With cuts like “Disparate Youth, The Keepers, The Riot’s Gone and Freak Like Me” no one can come close to her lane right now. Peep her vid for “The Keepers” below…
Welcome to “Friday’s Favorite” a section dedicated to what Leah and I love when it comes to fashion, music, beauty, food, places, travel, hair etc… This section will have more of a personal touch to it because in it, you will get to know us better.
For my second installment of “Friday’s Favorite” I would like to showcase an amazing emerging soul singer Esnavi. I discovered Esnavi back in 2011 and since that time, I have been a fan of her music and raw talent. Something that I think is missing in the music industry today. Her first album Exit E is available on i-Tunes and other digital outlets. Get it today. I also had the pleasure to interview her so check her out below. Follow her on Twitter and friend her on Facebook.
Singer Rihanna debuted her River Island collection on day two of London Fashion Week. The collection is a reflection of the Bajan singer’s fashion style and who loves to feel good in the clothes she wears while maintaining her care free, sexiness, and unapologetic attitude. This sporty/sexy collection comprises cropped tops, Varsity jackets, slick pencil skirts, high cut swimsuits and floral separates.
What do you guys think of this collection, will you wear it?
